Profile

David Taylor (born 1953) began his career as an Architect and ten years ago he decided to take a change of direction to peruse his life long passion of becoming a painter.

Born and raised in Lancashire, the ruggedness of the Pennine Hills and Lake District continue to be a constant source of inspiration, which now feature heavily in his paintings. Working with oil on canvas, he focuses on portraying in abstract form, emotion and atmosphere of the raw landscape together with the dramatic weather conditions that he loves to paint. His subtle use of light breaking though clouds and the effects that these have on the land is the framework for his work. His painting are often regarded by many as having a 21st Century Turneresque quality. He exhibits regularly in the UK and overseas in Singapore, California and Canada.

David Taylor is in collaboration with some of London’s prestigious Interior Designers who are using his work on their projects and recently has been chosen by The Royal Mint to use one of his paintings for their publicity.

He continues to live and work from his studio Dulwich, South London and his paintings hang in private collections in Europe, USA and Far East.
