Profile
Painter of international renown for his cliff-top en plein air paintings, Paul Lewin was trained in Bristol and has since lived and worked in south-west Britain, much of this in West Penwith, the westernmost tip of Cornwall. He has had over 50 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows in the UK and overseas, including the 2016 exhibition ‘Newlyn Today – A Celebration of Cornish Art’.
He has painted in many locations throughout the UK and has gained a particular connection with its coastal fringes. Now living in West Cornwall with his family, he has returned to an area that he holds a great affinity for, and as such it continues to provide much of the subject matter and inspiration for his work.
His paintings have been purchased for collections throughout the UK, Germany, Mexico, USA, Australia and the Far East. In 2015 he was shortlisted for the ‘New Lights’ prize exhibition and was included in the subsequent travelling exhibition across northern England.
