Farrow & Ball Colour Talk Event 15th March

Posted by Gallery Staff on April 11, 2012

Webbs Fine Art Gallery co-hosted an evening event with fabulous paint manufacturers Farrow and Ball on Thursday 15th March. Lauren from Farrow and Ball gave us all an enjoyable and informative talk on using their fantastic range of paint colours and finishes both for interior and exterior areas. Farrow and Ball had kindly donated all the paint for Webbs to redecorate our gallery and we were very proud to host this evening to show off how lovely it looks now and thank them for their generosity. Kas ( the manager of the Battersea showroom of F&B), along with Liz ( Webbs Artistic Director) initiated this successful event.

New Russian Artwork

Posted by Gallery Staff on December 14, 2011

Winter Landscape by Petro Magro                           Waiting for Performance by Panas Tytenko

We are showing a beautiful collection of paintings by important Russian artists from the Ukraine. The work is dated from 1991 through to the present day and displays a variety of styles by several painters from different generations. The artists are Petro Magro, Panas Tytenko, Oksana Tytenko, Olena Yakovenko and Lana Okiro.

All of them are prominent artists in the Ukraine and all went through the rigorous training of the school known as " sotzrealism." However their innate freedom of spirit could not be manipulated by the political system. Their paintings show tremendous creativity and imagination and their talent is now appreciated far beyond Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

Crotto in Deia

Posted by Gallery Staff on March 07, 2011

Our Artistic Director (Liz Cranwell-Ward) travelled to Deia in Mallorca at the end of July, with our highly esteemed artist Paul Crotto (collecting him en route in Paris )

Liz organised a small retro exhibition featuring some of his work, Paul Crotto is an American artist living in Paris since 1949 and long-time summer resident of Es Clot in Deia from the early 1950's to very recently when age ( Paul will celebrate his 89th birthday in October) slowed him a little.

The private view was a huge success with Paul being utterly amazed at the sheer volume of dear friends who came to meet and greet him again after an absence of 4 years .The private view was kindly hosted by Lanny Aldridge in a beautiful landscaped garden which is situated on the way through Deia Es Clot .

Fairy lights and the tinkling of wine glasses together with the gentle hum of groups of friends chatting and reminiscing filled the air as the sun went down. Many individual tributes were paid to Paul and indeed he spoke to the gathered circle of the unique qualities Deia has and its importance over the years to many poets, writers and artists. Paul was congratulated and shone out under a firing of cameras clicks which any New York or Parisian  private view  would have  envied .
