Ellie Bright was born in Ukraine. After graduating with a diploma from Uzhorod Art Academy in Ukraine, Bright began exhibiting throughout Ukraine. She moved to the UK and has been living and working here since 2016. Ellie has exhibited throughout the UK, including The Mall Galleries, The biscuit factory gallery, and others.
Her works are in private collections worldwide, including in the UK, USA, Italy, France, Germany, Cyprus, and others.

Artist statement:

I value how the semi-abstract style allows the onlooker to fully immerse in the subject without linking ties to the artist. This is vital for me, as it is the only way I believe the viewer will emotionally connect with my painting.

Cityscape can be poetised; the box-like buildings can be covered in fog and mist, and contemporary landscapes become a beautiful, vibrant land.

Ellie is connecting the motive of the romantics of a city with hope and dreams in order to make the viewer feel the vibrance and pulse of the urban.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the magical effect that the fog brings to the paintings, and when rays of light break out of dark corners and bring the cities to life, I feel beauty.”

Mariusz Kaldowski

Mariusz Kaldowski was born in 1962 in Poland. In 1987 he graduated with an MA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He is a painter, a print maker and a graphic designer. Currently he shares his time between his homes in Westcliff-on-Sea and Orneta in Poland.

Since coming to the UK in 1996 he has been busy creating, exhibiting and selling his work. Since 2002 he has been Artist in Residence in Regent’s Park; and since 2009 he has been working with the National Trust as their resident artist for the South East region.

Mariusz says:

“Both these appointments have been a joy to me, and both have broadened my horizons and my outlook beyond measure.”

His view of the natural world was recognised by the Award for ‘Expressing the Essential Spirit of Holland Park’. He has also received other numerous awards: 2006 – Main Prize Winner – editor’s choice of ‘The Artist Magazine’, and in the same year the Nina Hosali 1st Prize of the Free Painters & Sculptors Society. Other prizes include: Windsor & Newton, Pro Arte, Caran D’ache and Royal Talents.

He has also, for a number of years, been creating paintings illustrating classical music. In 2000 he completed a frieze (22 metres by 1.5 meres), entitled ‘Four Seasons, Four Stages of Life’, as a visual expression of Vivaldi’s music. This frieze is shown life as part of the classical performances of the Polish National Radio Orchestra and has been featured on Polish National Television. Following this he has completed four further parts to this frieze to Piazzolla’s version of the Four Seasons, and was commissioned to prepare a separate triptych to commemorate The Year of Chopin in 2010, shown on stage during recitals by prominent pianists.

As well as continuing his work as Artist in Residence, Regents Park, his links with the National Trust remain very strong, as evidenced by the 2019 Nymans solo show.

Marcel Gatteaux

Marcel Gatteaux studied drawing and painting from an early age and following a foundation year at Camberwell Art School, he trained as a picture restorer in studios over Piccadilly Arcade. Throughout this time he continued life drawing and painting and landscape painting became the dominant theme of his work.

“Since travelling to Provence for the first time in 1991, I have been captivated by the light and colour of the Mediterranean region.  When my paintings started to sell in that year I devoted my time to painting and have continued to travel frequently to the area.

I believe in John Ruskin’s dictum ‘Paint what you love, love what you paint’.”

He has been with the gallery for more than ten years.

Recent travels which have inspired new paintings include Paris, Venice and Tuscany.
